Healthcare

It is in the health care area that The Presbyterian Homes in North Carolina enjoys an enviable reputation. Glenaire, together with its sister facilities, are renowned in the field for the quality of health care extended to its residents.

Glenaire is committed to helping residents maintain good health and to meeting a wide range of health care needs through well-planned accommodations, good nutrition, exercise, social activities and medical services. Focusing upon the latter, Glenaire's health care program emphasizes clinic services, assisted living, skilled nursing care and therapies.

Fees charged at Glenaire for health care services cover the facilities, nursing staff, and routine supplies. Pharmacy expenses, specialized medical supplies, and physician fees are billed separately and may be covered by insurance. Glenaire is a Medicare and Medicaid certified facility. Additional services, such as occupational, speech and physical therapies, lab work, and ambulance services are provided at an additional cost which is often reimbursed in part by Medicare and supplemental insurances. Residents are responsible for filing their own insurance claims, but referrals for expert assistance in this complex area can be made readily.

Each living accommodation within Glenaire, from the cottages through skilled nursing, can be considered a relatively distinct level of care. Every resident within a CCRC receives some level of care and some health care services in varying degrees at all times. Changes of residences follow a continuum of care from active independence through stages of increasing dependence and passivity. With each change in the level of care, there is a corresponding change in the fees charged.
